Our last day in Dortmund, we have to check out at the Unique Hotel at 11. Let us first try to get everything in our suitcases. For me it went suprisingly easy, Mia however….

At breakfast my mind keeps wandering to that light pink jacket I spotted yesterday. It is the best shade of pink ever and combined with the white zipper it is simply corgeous. It’s a little bit too expensive though but trying it on wouldn’t hurt anybody?

(Ofcourse if it fits nobody can stop me from buying it and it would hurt my wallet for sure).

And yes, it fits! Oh how I need this jacket. It’s what I’ve always wanted, made for somebody with brown long hair in her early forties. “Doesn’t it make me look younger?” Mia frowns intensely bored. “Then buy it!”, not aware of the pile of bills waiting for us in Haarlem. But here is no time for ration, this is emotion. That pink little darling and I belong together!

The “150 euro bitte” does not hurt yet, but I know it will in a few hours. The pin machine makes a weird bleep and the sellers face full of compassion says enough… My card is refused! Completely ashamed we walk straight to the Sparkasse bank to try again. It turns out that none of my passes seem to work anymore?! “Vielleicht magnetisiert”, says the employee.

From our last money we buy Dortmunter Kucher and coffee and start being creative with free things to do. Thank god we payed for our hotelbill the first day and the car is filled with gaz!

We started to waggle on this huge seesaw.

We did a game “spot the most beautiful manhole cover” (hey I see now they’re branded by local stores, smart!).

Shall we enter the church? The entrance is free but going in would make us feel even more like the vagabonds we have suddenly become.

Let’s go home and on our way back see if the cool landmark at Halde Haniel in Bottrop is also free of entrance. But ofcourse we get lost and while hitting back the highway I suddenly see it becoming smaller and smaller in my rearview mirror. Too late for you dear Landmark. We are now singing and rapping loudly along with Katy Perry and Juicy J. and looking forward to our cosey home and Fransje & Sjakie.

Here we are Holland! And while entering Haarlem all dark clouds disappear.

Sjakie is so happy to have us back and starts playing hide and seek in the first unpacked bag.

I need a smoothie. A green re-balancing smoothie… Cheers!! (Recipe is here)
